Resolve privacy policy
In short: Resolve does not collect, transmit, sell or share your personal data. It has no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. It works entirely inside your browser.
What Resolve does
When you open Resolve on a web page, it looks for the images on that page, checks whether larger versions exist, and lets you save the ones you choose. It only runs when you open it, and only in the tab you are scanning.
Data stored on your device
Resolve stores the following in your browser’s extension storage. It never leaves your device through Resolve.
- Your settings, such as size filters, file-name template and the Live monitoring preference.
- Your ignore rules, for example images or sites you chose to hide.
- A temporary cache of image check results (image addresses, dimensions, file sizes and content fingerprints) so revisiting a page is faster. Entries expire after about 24 hours, and you can clear them by removing the extension’s data in your browser.
Network requests
To find and save the largest version of an image, Resolve requests image files from the websites that host them. These requests are made directly by your browser, in the same way as if you had opened the image yourself, and may include your normal cookies for that site. For sites that block hotlinking, Resolve adds the address of the page you are on as the Referer header on these requests. Resolve makes no requests to any server operated by its developer.
Page content
Resolve reads the page you are scanning to list its images (for example image addresses, alt text and sizes). This information is used only on your device to show you the results and is not stored beyond the cache described above or sent anywhere.
Permissions
Resolve asks for access to all websites because images are hosted on many different domains that cannot be known in advance. It uses this access only to read the page you are scanning and to fetch the images you are viewing. It does not use it to track you.
Third parties
Resolve does not include third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code. If the extension shows a link to a donation page (Ko-fi), that link opens a separate website operated by a third party, which has its own privacy policy. Resolve does not send it any information.
Your responsibility for saved images
Images you save may be protected by copyright or website terms. Please only save images you have the right to use.
Changes
If this policy changes, for example if optional paid features are added that need a license check, this page will be updated and the date above will change.
